Studying the human skin microbiome and its impact on health

The human skin microbiome refers to the diverse community of microorganisms residing naturally on the skin surface. This microbiome includes bacteria, fungi, and viruses, each of plays a role in maintaining skin and body health. The role of the skin microbiome in overall human health has received increasing attention. Disturbances in the microbiome can lead to skin diseases such as acne, dermatitis, and skin lesions. Studies show that the skin microbiome may interact with the immune system and influence disease susceptibility, ultimately impacting overall health. This study aims to analyze the diversity of the skin microbiome and explore its association with different dermatological conditions. It also examines environmental and lifestyle factors on the microbiome and develops strategies to maintain or improve the desired skin microbiome. This study follows an applied research approach, employing a descriptive-analytical design with qualitative methods. The results showed that the diversity of the skin microbiome in healthy people is greater than that in people with skin diseases. It was also found that factors such as diet, stress, and the use of hygiene products affect the composition of the microbiome. The findings provide insights into potential therapeutic strategies for dermatological disorders and contribute to maintaining optimal skin health.
