Abstract

Oil and gas reserves, Mines and natural resources are national assets and can lead Afghanistan to self-sufficiency and development. The actual reserves of hydrocarbon resources in the north of the country, if properly managed and used technically, can help the country to become energy self-sufficient. In the half century of oil and gas extraction, there have always been problems and obstacles, and the study has been written to assess the quantity and value of oil and gas reserves, external barriers in extraction, how to operate and its impact on the economy of Afghanistan, which have goals such as: The economic assessment of the North's oil and gas reserves follows the extraction situation, the problems facing oil and gas production, imports, the amount of oil and gas needed and the economic position of the oil and gas of Afghanistan. The research method is library and field visits of extraction, information collection from sub-departments, reports from foreign institutions and the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum of Afghanistan have been used to achieve better results. The results of this study indicate that exploration and extraction facilities in production areas that have been used for more than four decades, are worn out, lack of coordination and succession of working stages, lack of extractive development management, lack of use of modern technologies and lack of consideration for future of oil and gas extraction are serious obstacles. Since investment in oil and gas extraction is expensive compared to other sectors and production should be considered decades into the future, And because of today's provisions, the natural geological structure, the building of wells, the existing facilities and equipment shall not be seriously damaged.
