Evaluation of the application of conical section in engineering and architecture

Abstract

Conical sections have different geometrical properties that are very useful in human life. Important engineering issues such as creating car parts, light and sound reflectors, designing and drawing graphs are done by using conic curves. In this reason knowing how to draw and use these curves are essential for every professional engineer. Conical sections are classified in different ways, for example, according to the ratio of the distance from the axis to the section and the distance from the section to the directory. In this research the classification is based on the position of the generator of the cone axis. The main goal of this research is to investigate the types of conic sections, the history and application of these curves in technical and architectural issues. This article has been written using reliable internal and external sources, analysis and review of scientific materials and articles on the subject using the library method. During the writing of this article and the analysis of scientific materials related to topic, got acquainted with the types of conic sections, the history of these curves in the ancient and Islamic periods, the practical use of conic sections in the ancient and modern times, and their applications in the solid’s that surround us, and so after analyzing and examining the natural and technical phenomenon, came to the conclusion that these curves are used not only in various sciences of mathematics, physics, astronomy, but also in the design and production of technical parts in technical and architectural departments
