Investigating of the extend for oil and gas Newcom layers complex, in the north of Afghanistan

Abstract

It is essential to study the characteristics of gas fields to determine the amount of oil and gas reserves. Therefore, in the present research, the sections of the characteristics of the Volansion, Hettangians, and Berriam complexes were studied. The objectives of this research are to identify the strata containing the mentioned complex in northern Afghanistan and to determine its extent in the studied areas, reveal the characteristics of the collector rocks in the discovered productive strata, and finally explain the lithological and petrographic composition of the reservoir rocks. In this research, the methodology is based on a developmental objective and is analytical-inferential in nature, with data collection carried out through library research. In the findings and results of this research, the layers included in the Neocom oil and gas-bearing complex, the determination of its extent, highlighting the differences in reservoir and filtration properties, revealing the maximum thickness of the productive layer, determining permeability and gas saturation, and also identifying the lithological and petrographic composition have been specified.
