The Role of Education and Public Awareness in Environmental Protection in Afghanistan: A Review

Humanity needs a clean and healthy environment for a comfortable life. A clean and healthy environment is one of the basic needs of humans; however, environmental pollution is increasing day by day due to various human activities. Environmental pollution causes various diseases and health problems. Therefore, protective measures should be taken in this area. The aim of this research is to identify the role and importance of environmental education and public awareness in environmental protection. Relevant information was collected through an extensive review of scientific sources, including articles in scientific journals, books, reports, and other reputable scientific sources. As a result, the role of public education and awareness about environmental pollution was recognized as essential factors in environmental protection and pollution reduction. Public education and awareness play a vital and fundamental role in environmental pollution management. Through education, awareness, and access to information, the general public can be encouraged to participate in the protection of natural resources and the environment. This research provides essential information about the role of public education and awareness in environmental protection and reduction of environmental pollution, as well as methods of promoting public awareness about the environment.
